Metta foot spa: Happy feet that empower

In the heart of posh Bandra is a unique social enterprise business – a spa that helps its visually impaired therapists stand on their feet even as yours get much needed rest. The fragrance of lemon grass and a gentle quiet greet my tired feet. I feel like I am miles away from the maddening city I have been commuting through all day. There is stillness around here, almost ashram-like. Tucked away in a quiet part of Bandra, one of Mumbai’s most ‘happening’ suburbs, is Metta Foot Spa, a … [Read more...]

The Code of Personal Status (CPS) (Arabic: مجلة الأحوال الشخصية‎) is a series of progressive Tunisian laws aiming at the institution of equality between women and men in a number of areas. It was promulgated by beylical decree on August 13, 1956 and came into effect on January 1, 1957. He gave women a unique place in Tunisian society, notably abolishing polygamy, creating a judicial … [Read more...]

Celebrating World Pulse: Voices of the Future 2013 Finalist

I am so humbled to be counted among the 31 finalists   It means a lot to me. It also scares me a bit. Before this, I have been raising my voice through a filtered gap - behind the safety of an anonymous name on an anonymous space - my personal blog. Being selected here means I no longer can continue that journey - at least the path diverges somewhat. From my experience of the application process - through those 4 assignments, I broke so many of my self-built safety walls - it … [Read more...]

VERONICA, Live in the NOW

"The reality earth plane on which you currently exist is a result of the energy of your participation. In the time line each generation has left an imprint of positive + negative that has tipped quite vigorously into the negative. This is a result of being unconsciously without the influence of the soul.  Most will reply to this vehemently that they have participated religiously within the parameters of their linear consciousness... the spiritual influences being regulated by a confined … [Read more...]

Imagination is a Power, why not us it? ~ Shirlee Hall

Shirlee Hall Since the imagination is a power, why not make use of it to bring the purity of crystal into ourselves? You will say it will still be in our imagination. No, everything you imagine can become reality. For once you have felt that purity, you will find dark feelings and desires unbearable. When darkness visits, you will be immediately alerted and compelled to react by replacing them with more generous and disinterested feelings, which will make you feel lighter. A good … [Read more...]

To look a child in the eye and say, 'If they come for me, you need to run'," said the newly appointed United Nations Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict. Saturn in Scorpio, Taking Responsibility for the Shadow Side

Recently my husband and I watched one of those movies that open your mind and affect you deeply. I was struck at one point over how differently we viewed things. This movie was about a shadow figure. This man had been designated as a scapegoat for an entire community. He looked and acted the part. There came a point in the movie where things shifted and the collective shadow was thrown onto a young girl. It was striking because there were some strong male characters in this movie, and … [Read more...]
