NIGERIA – ‘My mother, Morenike Osotimehin, was a remarkable woman’

UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin NIGER - 'My mother, Morenike Osotimehin, was a remarkable woman' My mother, Morenike Osotimehin, was a remarkable woman. Born in Nigeria on the 4th of August 1924, she gave birth to eight children, four boys and four girls. I was the oldest. She was very loving, but also very firm; you couldn’t get away with things that you really wanted to do, without her knowing, and when it was not acceptable, she’d let you know. Though, that … [Read more...]

Afghanistan is no longer the worst place in the world to be a mother!

Afghanistan is no longer the worst place in the world to be a mother, according to a new report by Save the Children. I am at once heartened and shocked by this news. Has gaslighting conditioned women into thinking ‘they’re’ emotionally unstable?

Gaslighting is psychological abuse and a form of manipulation used to drive someone crazy. False information is presented to the victim, making them doubt their own memory and perception. It may simply be the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred, or it could be the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim, enabling abuser's lies to live. So Why's It Called That? The term "gaslighting" was introduced to the public … [Read more...]

Origin of Mother’s Day ~ an honorable Celebration !!!
