Interactive Access to CDC’s HIV and STD Data

    The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched a new interactive web tool—the NCHHSTP Atlas—that allows users to create maps, charts, and tables using HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease (STD) data collected by CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention(NCHHSTP).Currently, the Atlas includes AIDS, HIV, Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and primary and secondary syphilis data. Earlier this year, AIDS.gov reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had launched a website for its Enhanced Comprehensive HIV Prevention Planning .     (ECHPP) Initiative, which provided $11.6 million in FY2011 for enhanced planning and coordination activities in the 12 Metropolitan and Statistical Areas (MSA) accounting for an estimated 44% of U.S. AIDS cases in 2007. Last month, the first Road to AIDS 2012 Town Hall meeting kicked off in San Francisco, California. Five Members of Congress gathered outside the Capitol on Thursday morning, September 15, to announce the formation of the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus.
