A new UNHCR report reveals that over 145,000 Syrian refugee families in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq are headed by women alone. Helen Clark, Floods in Bosnia, Herzegovina and Serbia

There is a pressing need in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to make rapid progress on meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people as a result of the disastrous floods in May, said UN development chief Helen Clark during her visit to Brussels for the international donor conference in support of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Education must play a part in combating climate change, UNICEF-UK

Climate change poses a serious threat to efforts to reduce global poverty.   According to the United Nations International Panel on Climate Change, the changing climate will have widespread effects on human life and ecosystems. It brings heat waves, flooding, droughts, intense tropical cyclones, rising sea levels, and damages biodiversity.
