How to Prepare for Your First Date After a Divorce

Going on a date after a divorce is not always easy. For starters, if you haven’t been dating for a while, you may be off your game a little bit, and this can cause you to become nervous. A lot of things have probably changed too since the last time you went out for a date with someone new, so some adjustments may be necessary.

The key to making your first date after a divorce a success is being able to relax. It’s a date, it’s supposed to be fun. To help you get back in the game, here are some tips and tricks on how to prepare for your first date after a divorce.

Some Grooming Is in Order

The best way to boost your confidence and to feel better about yourself is by going the extra mile when it comes to cleanliness and how you look. It is a good idea to go for a treatment session before the date. A quick massage followed by some exfoliating treatments can give you that rejuvenated feeling almost immediately. Not only will you feel fresher, you will also feel better about yourself.

Take a long and comforting shower before the actual date. Clip your nails, brush your teeth, and put on your best makeup. You can also spend a little extra time choosing the right clothes to wear. First dates are always about making the right first impressions, but it is also important that you are comfortable in the outfit you choose to wear. Finally, take your best vape mods and vape when you feel tense. Vaping smells better than smoking too.

Prepare a Few Questions

You can get around the anxiety of going on a first date by simulating how the date will go in your mind. The simulation will also help you prepare a few questions to ask. Have 4-5 questions that you can use as conversation starters and you should be able to go through the date without awkward pauses and other uncomfortable moments.

Don’t forget to practice using those questions too. You want the conversation to flow naturally, so only move on to the next question when the previous one is fully exhausted. It sounds simple, but practice still helps. After all, you want the date to feel fluid and natural, not staged or overly prepared.

A Pep Talk

The first date after a divorce can feel surreal sometimes. It doesn’t take much for a date to lose its meaning, or for you to feel like you’re operating on auto-pilot. You want to enjoy the moments, not get them over with as quickly as possible.

Before going on the date, give yourself a pep talk. Understand why you’re dating again and be your own best friend. You can even say things like “I’m confident and I will enjoy this date” to yourself to gain the extra confidence you need.
