A quarter of all Canadians spend more than 30% of their income on housing, pushing these costs of out of the threshold of affordability.

Over the past 15 years, federal support for affordable housing has plummeted. Canada’s population is growing, but affordable housing just isn’t keeping up. As the first of the month approaches, thousands of Canadians are forced to make the agonizing choice between paying for rent and buying food.
High housing costs are the number one reason why food banks are busier than ever.
