Imagine being born blind or with a cleft lip. In many places around the world, this would mean you’d get left behind, not because you couldn’t achieve your dreams, but because the people around you don’t believe you can. Send a message of hope and encouragement to a “forgotten” child »
Stigma plagues children with disabilities. Some are hidden away out of superstition. They are often “forgotten,” not just by their communities, but by the national health and education programs that are supposed to help them. Schools turn them away. Families already struggling to make a living can’t provide the care children need while still putting food on the table.
We know the ability to walk, see or hear doesn’t make or break a person. People with all sorts of abilities and shortcomings lead healthy, happy, productive lives. But they all need the chance to do so. That means education, medical care and encouragement.
Give hope to children with disabilities — remind them that they are NOT forgotten »
