By Cheryl Smith, MD, Associate Medical Director for Clinical Care and Services, Office of the Medical Director, AIDS Institute, NYS DOH
The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, in partnership with AIDS.gov and the New York State Clinical Education Initiative , is hosting Social Media: Going Viral Against HIV and STIs tomorrow, December 7, 2010, at New York University’s Kimmel Center . Improved integration of social media in HIV and STI prevention and care is the principal goal of this one-day forum.
Going Viral brings together presenters from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors with expertise in social media planning, implementation and evaluation. This at-capacity event will be webcast and you can submit comments or questions online (note: a simple registration is required). And we encourage you to tweet and blog about the event (whether you’re attending in-person or virtually)!
And check out the Going Viral website’s resources page, which includes a catalog of organizations in New York State with an HIV or STI focus that are already using social media. We anticipate that this listing will become more substantial over time — perhaps with Going Viral being a catalyst for this expanding, strategic use of social media tools.
Stay tuned!
