Guide to Coordinating Outfits for a Wedding

It was the happiest day of your life! Getting married is something that many of us dream of, so after the proposal is made, and plans are underway, one of the most important factors is coordinating the outfits that are going to be worn on that very special day.

And it doesn’t only apply to the bride and the groom. There has to be planning made for bridesmaids, groomsmen, and of course, the mother of the bride is a very important figure to consider as well. You want coordination, but you also need to stand out, and not have the people wearing the clothes feeling miserable either. This is why we’re providing you with a basic guide that will help you get started.

Use the Theme as a Starting Point

One of the first things you’re going to do once you start planning for your wedding is deciding on a theme. This will be a great help in guiding you towards picking the style and colors of the outfits that need to be coordinated in the wedding. They don’t have to be exactly the same, but they need to compliment the theme, so this will help you narrow down greatly when it comes to decision making.

The Style of the Wedding Dress

Depending on the kind of wedding you’re having, more often than not, the main focus is going to be the brides dress. This helps in making decisions for dress code coordination because no one is supposed to upstage the bride and groom. So on all fronts, depending on the style of the brides dress, you’re going to decide how similar or different the remaining participants will need to look.

Discuss with the Important People

Before you make any decisions, it’s always a good idea to get a bit of input from your family and your bridesmaids, and even the groomsmen. Even though it is your special day, showing them that you value their input goes a long way, and they may actually give you some pretty great ideas!

Think about the Reception

Some people like to have a change of clothes once the ceremony is over, so don’t forget to keep that in mind. In the second half of the wedding, you can change it up a bit and perhaps have a bit of fun with the theme and coordination of the outfits for everyone involved. This is particularly fun if there’s going to be a dance in this case, you have to figure out what kind of dance it will be and make sure that the outfits chosen fit the mood and music, and are still matching with the theme of the wedding.

Coordinating outfits for a wedding are much more complex than we’d like to believe. However, with proper planning and making sure that you’re seeing to all the details, you can’t really go wrong because it’s just a matter of ensuring that there is a sense of flow with the colors and the styles of the outfits, across the board throughout the whole wedding.
