Love and Relationship: How To Be Involved With Someone?

For many people getting involved with someone, might seem like such a straightforward thing. However, one of the biggest challenges that most people have to contend with is finding that person with whom they feel like they have a strong connection. Once you find the right person, the feeling is really exhilarating.

When a relationship is still in its formative stages, it’s very important that you focus on working on your own self-development. You don’t have to try too hard to appear a certain way in order to make someone attracted to you.

You also have to avoid being overeager because this can cloud your judgment and lead to poor decision making. Don’t just be attracted to a person’s physical attributes and forget to find out who they truly are. As long as you take the time to observe, you can learn a lot about them.

Here are some tips to help you get involved with someone in a sensible way:

Be clear about what you really want

If you are attracted to a person for the wrong reasons, it is fair to say that relationship may not go very far. If things are happening in your past that may have scarred you, try to resolve them before they start creeping into your relationship. At the end of the day, you want to approach a new relationship with proper motivations and attractions.

Be open with your emotions

It is very important that you communicate your emotions to the other person. Don’t hold back hoping that they will be able to figure it out. When empaths fall in love, they do not hold back because they are not afraid to be vulnerable. This openness can be very endearing to others and is something you should try to embrace.

Do not listen to negative inner voices

Critical inner voices are what hurts our self-esteem and fuels our insecurities. Thoughts like “I’m not good enough” or “This is a waste of time” can really lower the chances of your relationship growing into something special. Being too self-critical is what keeps very many people alone and unhappy. Be confident in yourself and give you and your partner a chance.

Make sure you are doing it for the right reasons

If you are not yet ready to let go of your past hurts and do whatever it takes to exist in a committed relationship, then you should probably wait a little longer before you get into a relationship. Draw as many lessons as you can from your previous relationships and grow from them. If you jump too quickly into a new situation, you are likely to repeat some of the mistakes that may have affected you in the past.

Love yourself

You cannot expect someone else to love you if you do not also love yourself. People are likely to treat you just as well as you treat yourself. If you do not think you are worthy or lovable at a very deep level, you will end up expecting too much from your partner. This is because you will be seeing them as your salvation from your self-doubts. Over time, your own flaws and limitations will begin to be reflected in your partner.

Learn the qualities of a healthy relationship

Sometimes we tend to idealize the person we want to date before we have even met them. We fantasize about how they will impact our lives based on our previous relationships. It is very important that you know who you truly are and what you are looking for in a relationship. At the same time, be willing to learn what a healthy relationship is all about and what it takes to build one. A healthy relationship starts off slow and commitment and intimacy follow after a connection has been made on both a mental and emotional level.

Have fun in the process

Approach dating as an adventure and trust the process. Don’t put yourself under too much pressure because this is likely to reflect badly on other people. See it as an opportunity to learn new things and get exposure to new environments and lifestyles. When you are relaxed, you are better able to not how you feel when you are around a person. You will be able to feel when things are looking good or when something doesn’t feel right. Learn about how others can fit into your world and how you can fit into theirs.

Be on the lookout for red flags

If you are dealing with someone who makes plans with you and then cancels them at the last minute, they are probably not worth it. Also, if you know they are lying to you or they constantly criticize you or treat others poorly, you should take a step back. Respect is non-negotiable in a relationship. Don’t just move along hoping that they will change. If they show you who they are, believe them.

Avoid playing games

It is also very important that you focus on honestly expressing your thoughts and feelings rather than thinking about how you will appear to your partner. Being honest and straightforward is more admirable than to be trying to control how someone thinks about you.

Allow it to grow

If you are all over your new mate too soon, you are likely to stifle your new found love. Both of you need to give each other space so that the next date feels exciting. Calling or texting them every five minutes leaves you with nothing to look forward to as you await your next rendezvous. You should not come across as someone who is too desperate to be in a relationship.

As you savor every moment of a new relationship, try not to be too eager to move things to the next level. Both parties need to be on the same page as the relationship moves from one stage to the next. If you try to jump the gun, things are bound to go awry before you know it. Also, you should not pretend to be who you are, because this will only hurt you in the long run.
