Choosing the right perfume for work is very tricky. On the one hand, you want to smell incredible and feel good about yourself. On the other, you need to avoid being too provocative with the fragrances you rock as well as making others uncomfortable with those that are too strong.
There are no definite rules to follow when it comes to work-appropriate perfumes. You are free to choose fragrances that you genuinely love from a vast catalogue of options available today. There are, however, some tips that will help you with your search.
Go with Eau de Toilette
As mentioned before, you want to avoid perfumes that are too strong so that you don’t disturb those around you. The best way to do that is by going for eau de toilette, which has a concentration of 10%. You can also choose eau de perfume, but only if the notes aren’t too strong.
Some even prefer eau de cologne, which has an even lower concentration at only 5%. There are some interesting fragrances in this category, plus they usually come in small bottles for when you need to slip them in your bag.
Consider the Bottle
Speaking about smaller packaging, it is worth noting that EDTs and EDCs require you to reapply the fragrance of your choice after several hours to keep it fresh. Choosing a perfume that comes in smaller packaging – or one with an optional travel size also available – is incredibly convenient.
Of course, you can also go for the usual 100ml or 125ml bottle and then transfer some of the perfume to a smaller glass bottle for travel purposes. It’s a tedious process, but the industry understands the need for compact packaging and there are solutions to help make the process easier.
Nothing Too Sexy
Some notes are sexy by nature. Perfumes like Opium by Yves Saint Laurent use layers of sexy and often wild notes to create different feels that aren’t necessarily suitable for the workplace. Fragrances with deep musky notes and some perfumes for women with coriander, pepper, and cloves are also considered NSFW (Not Safe for Work).
You want something fresh and light. Go with citrus, apple, white florals, and cinnamon for notes that work well at work. You can also turn to slightly bolder notes like lime blossom and jasmine for a sophisticated fragrance that captures attention without being too intrusive.
Think You
The fragrance you use actually affects your performance at work. When you smell scents that help you focus like jasmine notes, your work performance is greatly improved. Peppermint is the note that helps you remember things better.
Many working women’s favorite is green apple and cucumber. The fluffy tones of these scents help make you feel comfortable no matter how cramped and hectic the work space really is. Naturally, these scents help you feel right at home and ready for any challenge.
These are the best tips you can use to find the perfect perfume for work. With these tips in mind, you can start your search and find the perfect perfume that suits you, your image, and the look you rock to work seamlessly.
