Times have changed, and marriage is no longer a life goal for every woman. While it can be a beautiful thing to find someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with, an increasing number of women are likewise deciding that marriage isn’t for them. On the other hand, if you have decided that marriage is a commitment that you’re interested in and you’ve recently gotten engaged, then there are some things you should think about doing before saying ‘I do.’ If you happen to be wondering what exactly those things are, you will find 5 in the following article.
Affirm Your Beliefs on Marriage
Before getting married, one of the things you should consider doing is affirming your beliefs on marriage. You should ask yourself key questions such as what marriage means to you, what your expectations are, what you believe your role as a wife will be, what marriage means in terms of womanhood, and what the purpose of marriage is for you. It is important that you understand that there isn’t a wrong or right answer to these questions. It’s more about entering your marriage somewhat mentally prepared, aware of your expectations, and with an understanding of what marriage means to you. This knowledge can also be shared with your partner just to ensure you’re both on the same page and share realistic expectations. By doing this, you’re more likely to have peace of mind as you set out on your new journey as well as confidence in your decision to get married.
Achieve a Personal Goal
Throughout your life, it is likely that you have a number of goals that you want to achieve. They could be as simple as buying your first car, finishing your degree, or reaching a certain level in your career. It is important that you consider achieving some goals that can be more challenging to complete after marriage before you get hitched. This is because once you get married, life becomes about both you and your partner as opposed to just yourself.
Depending on your agreement, this means that you may find that you have to make joint decisions regarding finances, travel, and other major decisions. You should, therefore, begin by writing down a list of things that you’d like to do for yourself before getting married. This is your chance to be selfish and think about the things that will make you happy. Some personal goals you may consider before marriage include putting your finances in place, focusing on your education, learning how to cook, or facing your biggest fears.
Have a Bachelorette Party
A bachelorette party is a tradition that has been going on for tons of years. This party that is usually thrown a week or a few days before the wedding often celebrates the bride-to-be’s last few days as a single lady. This should be celebrated as it is a reminder of all of the things you’ve accomplished as an individual. You can see it as a celebration of your womanhood and a toast to how much you’ve grown over the years. There are many types of bachelorette parties that you can consider throwing. However, the traditional one usually requires you to live on the wild side for the night. If you opt for a relatively wild bachelorette party, you could consider renting out a venue, hiring topless males from Central Coast Strippers to serve you drinks, and dancing the night away on tables. Alternatively, you could decide to be spontaneous and club hop after a few drinks. If you want something quiet on the other hand, you could opt for a fun dinner, slumber party, or even lunch during the day.
Some other ideas for a bachelorette party include coming up with a theme, accompanying outfits, and fun games to play during the party. No matter what it is that you decide to do, the main goal should be to celebrate your life before marriage and the person that you’ve blossomed into.
Travel Solo
Depending on what your life is like after marriage, you may not be able to travel at leisure especially if you plan on having kids. For this reason, you should consider arranging some solo ventures before you walk down the aisle. You can begin by writing out a list of places that you would like to see that’s within your budget. You can then set a timeline and determine when you have time to go. There are many benefits of going solo, such as having time to reflect and think. It is also a time to relax and unwind as well as think about the exciting times to come. Other benefits of traveling alone are that you’re more likely to meet new people since you’re on your own, you can be more spontaneous, and it’s a chance to try new adventures.
If you aren’t into solo travel however you could still decide to go with friends. The point is to get out and travel as a single person and enjoy new experiences before starting your new life in which you may begin traveling with your partner.
Discover Who You Are
One last thing to think about before getting married is discovering who you are. You may find that it is easier to share your life with and understand someone else when you first understand who you are. Some ways to discover this are to explore your likes and dislikes, your hobbies, as well as your beliefs and values. Knowing such things before you get married should help you stay in touch with who you are even after you become one with your new spouse.
Everyone should have the right to live their lives in the way they see fit, including women. We live in a time where many women have more of a voice than they once did and are able to make decisions based on what they personally want as opposed to what society says they should want. If you have made the decision to walk down the aisle, you should remember that it is a valid decision. You should begin your new life confident in who you are and proud of the goals you’ve accomplished as an individual.
