UN FOUNDATION 2

The United Nations will turn 69 years old on Friday, and as the world confronts numerous “problems without passports” – from climate change to terrorism to disease outbreaks – its work is as important as ever.

Each of us has a role to play in supporting the UN’s work to promote global peace and progress. Yesterday, UN officials including Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, members of the UN Foundation Board of Directors, diplomats, advocates, business leaders, and other partners came together at the 2014 Global Leadership Dinner to recognize leaders who are advancing UN causes.

You can view photos, video, and other highlights from the dinner here.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Valerie Amos, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator;
  • Justice Michael Kirby, Chair of the Independent Commission of Inquiry on North Korea;
    Merck & Co.;
  • Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL); and
  • Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever.

The Global Leadership Dinner, hosted by the UN Foundation and the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), benefits UNA-USA including its Global Classrooms Model UN program, which connects students in underserved communities with global issues and the work of the UN.

We hope you take a moment to check out video, photos, and other highlights from the evening.

Our work would not be possible without your support and the partnership of leaders like those we recognized last night.

The dinner was a reminder that by joining with the UN we can help change lives. Together let’s continue to make a difference with and for the UN.

Thanks,

The United Nations Foundation Team
