ABOUT Glendon James
– Member of the Toronto Blues Society and the T.M.A.
– Perform soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, clarinet, flute, keys, vocals, and percussion.
– Repertoire is extensive in all styles
– Began studying piano at age 4.
– At age 19 – toured with rock band “Exodus“.
Studied saxophone, clarinet, and flute with Ed Sossin of Humber College; Frank Uhran who specialized in sound production; Pat LaBarbara, Canada’s “Father of Jazz”: Vern Dorge of “Blood Sweat and Tears”; and Steve Lederer, formerly of Woody Herman’s Big Band. Also studied flute with Barb Ackerman of the Toronto Pops Orchestra and Virginia Markson.
Graduated Humber College, York University (Music/History), and received a Bachelor of Education (Music/History) from the University of Toronto.
Styles performed include Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues, Funk, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Gospel, BeBop, Fusion, Modal, and Swing with various artists over the years.
Glendon James is also engaged to our very own Heather Macdonald.
