The YIN MIND

Consciousness Situates
at the Point of Tension
Between
Stasis (form and substance)
and
Flow (continuity and connection)When and as consciousness turns towards stasis, the mind nourishes,
constellates with and imparts a delay in consequences, free will,
form and substance.
When the mind turns in the direction of stasis, there is the data reduction,
the statistical combination, the generation of representational form
and substance.
The data reduction, the distortion, the representation in form and substance
gains its assignment as a representation by means
of the indicator function of the form to the flow process
from which it is the statistical data reduced indicator.
The indicator has resemblance to the process
by means of the statistical rules of data reduction of process flow
to form and substance. The equivalence between mass and energy follows Einstein’s equation in general.
The biological transmutation of mind following Kervran’s work occurs.
The morphogenetic fields of Sheldrake operate as a source of pattern
for the substance and form, data reduced from energy. The stasis form and substance has a reality scheme – a geometry of interaction
and a transtemporal and transpatial scale
or psychological (mind nourished) set of dimensions.
It may produce the physical “Makio” or distortion of manifestation
and discontinuity or prephysical “Makio”, by means of the posture,
position or motion of the assemblage point,
the I AM or centre of consciousness.Zazen seeks the minimization or elimination of “Makio”, distortion,
the surfaces of form or the particle-like reality of substance.
Zazen seeks the turn of consciousness towards flow, continuity and connection –
the void, emptiness, totality, acknowledging All That Is
in our state and behaviour.
This means allowing our every posture, position or movement
to be accountable to flow, to continuity, to connection.
The contrast to this is dualistic separateness between the knower
and that which is known, the learned and curriculated,
conjured and culturally determined postures, positions
and motions of the centre of consciousness
towards stasis, identity, separate selfhood. If, as an exercise, we consider a clearly identifiable spot on the ceiling,
a bright reflective spot in a relatively uneventful field . . .
and we fasten our attention upon that spot every time I say the number “one”,
then when I say the number “two”, we close our eyes, we hesitate,
we turn our mind to the thought of the spot, we contemplate the spot,
we gather and focus our attention, with our eyelids closed,
we tend to form questions about the spot, the acuity with which we may see it,
the colour or colours of light within it, the shape of the spot,
the images it contains and reflects . . .
questions about the experience of gazing, staring or seeing
or about contemplating, noticing or thinking about the spot.
We gain a sense of location and orientation of our consciousness,
our awareness and our attention.copyright 2011, 2014, ECOhealth / Eve Revere
