UN Women and the Women’s Self Worth Foundation join forces to work on Women’s Empowerment and gender equality

March 2013 – A new partnership between UN Women and the Women’s Self Worth Foundation will promote women’s empowerment and gender equality over a period of three years, from 2013 to 2015.

UN Women Executive Director Michelle Bachelet met Cheryl Saban, President of the Women’s Self Worth Foundation, at UN Women headquarters in New York on the occasion of International Women’s Day to cement their partnership and thank her for her tremendous support.

Ms. Bachelet welcomed the partnership. “We will work concretely on programmes to improve the situation of women and girls so they have equal dignity and equal opportunity,” she said.

Ms. Saban said, “This is a monumental moment for the Self Worth Foundation and I am absolutely honored to be able to work side-by-side with Ms. Bachelet and the UN as we work to identify and support various initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Women’s Self Worth Foundation Pledges $10 Million to Aid Women’s Causes, Organizations

The Los Angeles-based Women’s Self Worth Foundation has announced a $10 million pledge to organizations working to help advance and empower women and girls.

Recently established by psychologist and author Cheryl Saban, the foundation also awarded its first grant: $1 million over four years to the Women’s Funding Network to support ACCION USA’s microlending programs to small business owners in the U.S. The foundation also will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from Saban’s latest book, What Is Your Self-Worth: A Woman’s Guide to Validation, which examines how society perceives women, how they perceive themselves, and how they can validate their contributions to the world.

“By acting as such a dedicated champion for women’s empowerment, Dr. Saban is leading the way for a growing community of smart and thoughtful donors,” said Women’s Funding Network president and CEO Chris Grumm.

Today’s announcement represents a tremendous opportunity to shine a spotlight on women’s rights and the current issues faced by woman today.

The Women’s Self Worth Foundation was formed in 2009 and is a private 501 (C) (3) charitable organization.

The primary mission of the Foundation is to provide grants to organizations that work towards the empowerment and advancement of women.
