Suku, 16, lives in Southern Sudan and is the oldest of five siblings. Even in the face of poverty and civil war, Suku was adamant about getting an education and was in secondary school, quite an accomplishment for a girl in Southern Sudan. Then one day, her uncle tried to force Suku to get married to a person she didn’t even know. » When Suku refused, the uncle she was living beat her, and she was forced to flee. But rather than give up or give in, Suku made her way back home to live with her mother and to continued going to school.
Not only that, she also became the chairperson for an advocacy group to promote girls’ education and raise public awareness on girls’ rights and the value of an education. »
Suku and girls like her around the world are the ones who will one day change the world for good. But they need our support to fulfill their dreams and make that change.With the world’s support, one girl CAN change the world. Be the one to help her do it. »
