Women as Change AgentsThe first Women as Change Agents Program took place in Panama City from 10 to 21 March 2011.The Program brought 19 female university students from the United States, Colombia, Mexico and Panama to learn about pressing problems facing women and how women can be empowered to enact change.The program was co-sponsored by The Global Institute for Leadership and Civic Development, the University of Monterrey and the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Panama City.The academic course was complemented by site visits and guest speakers. One of the dynamic guest speakers who share her knowledge and life experience with students was Ms. Dora Boyd de Pérez Balladares.Other guest speakers were: UN Women Agency – Isabel Emperador Representing Nadine Flora Gassman; UNDP – Human Development Unit – Paulina Franceshi, among others.The activity took place in March as part of UNIC’s activities to observe the Centennial of the International Women’s Day.
