They are losing their natural habitats to logging and human settlements, and losing their lives to poachers who sell their pelts and other body parts to greedy businessmen. The numbers are troubling: Habitat loss and poaching has reduced wild tiger numbers by more than 95% and threaten to wipe them out completely. In fact, there are now as few as 3,000 tigers surviving in the wild. Since 2010 was the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese lunar calendar, this is the perfect opportunity to call attention to the plight of wild tigers, now that we are in the year of the Metal Rabbit, offering some rest and peace…let’s share some of this with the tigers.
