on the
Inauguration of Dilma Rousseff, as President of Brazil

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement congratulating Dilma Rousseff on her inauguration as President of Brazil:
“On behalf of Canada, I would like to congratulate Dilma Rousseff on her inauguration today after her recent victory in the Brazilian presidential elections. Canada was represented at this important event by the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister for Public Works and Government Services and for Status of Women.
“Canada and Brazil share a strong commitment to global peace and security, as well as to values such as democracy and multiculturalism. We are working closely together in Haiti and through international forums such as the G-20 and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
“We look forward working with President Rousseff to continue developing our strong relationship with Brazil.”
