Burundi: Launch of a 16-day Campaign of Activism

 against Gender Violence

UNIC Bujumbura, in cooperation with UNIFEM, BINUB Gender Unit and the Ministry of Human Rights and Gender, organized the launch ceremony of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence in the Gitega province, centre of Burundi, on 25 November 2010.

 

 

Starting with a march in Gitega streets, the event was followed by official speeches of the First Vice President of the Republic on behalf of the government and the UNIFEM Representative who, on behalf of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in the country and the UN System, based his speech on the Message of the Secretary-General on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
