Tips On Furnishing Your Homes Like Your Fave Celebs

If you’re a huge fan of a certain actor, athlete or other celebrity, it can be fun to emulate their decorating style in your home.

While you might not be able to afford that $25 million mansion in Beverly Hills, that’s okay — you can still choose certain furniture pieces and other interior touches that will allow you to feel like your favorite celebrity had a hand in decorating your place.

With that in mind, let’s look at three celebrities and how their decorating styles may help inspire your own home transformation:

LeBron James: Big Man, Big Furniture

After NBA superstar LeBron James signed with the LA Lakers, he purchased an eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom mansion in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles for him and his family. According to USA Today, the upscale estate includes plenty of big-size amenities and other features that are fitting for one of the biggest names (and bodies) in basketball.

For instance, James’ home office includes dark wood tones, built-in cabinets and bookcases and a massive desk that will fit his 6’ 8” frame. If King James is one of your favorite players, you can certainly make your home office resemble his. Just start with a large desk and make it the focal point of the room.

For example, a desk that would be LeBron James-worthy in any home is this Hacienda weathered charcoal desk from Jerome’s Furniture. Made from solid pine, this desk includes scroll woodwork and matte black hardware with pewter highlights. At 63 inches wide and 31 inches deep, this desk will be the commanding focal point of your home office, just like James is on the court.

Amy Schumer: Cozy and Family Friendly

If you’re a fan of comedian Amy Schumer, you may have enjoyed checking out the photos of her Manhattan penthouse apartment. Schumer’s home includes plenty of built-in bookshelves and huge windows, along with a wood-burning fireplace. The home also has a cozy and welcoming feel, with some areas doing double or even triple duty on the comfort front. For instance, the master bedroom features the usual bed, along with a seating area with two large and overstuffed chairs and a small work area. Colorful throw rugs also help to tie the entire space together.

You could certainly do the same in your bedroom. Just place a couple of chairs with large pillows in a corner of your bedroom and add a small desk and bookcase off to the side. To keep the room from appearing too full, choose a low dresser or two, and add a colorful quilt or comforter that complements the throw rugs.

Ellen DeGeneres: Monochromatic with Touches of Other Colors

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres’ 6,000-square-foot home in Carpinteria, California, features a highly desired open floor plan, along with picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean. Glance through photos of the lovely home and one thing is quite apparent: DeGeneres favors a ton of white furniture and accessories, along with touches of other colors, especially shades of gray.

If you’re in the market for a new couch, you could opt for one or two large and comfortable all-white pieces, as well as a large padded ottoman/coffee table that resembles the one DeGeneres has in her living room. Spring for an all-white shag rug for the room, or if the idea of keeping the carpet clean is daunting, skip the rug and go with a light wood laminate.

In the bedroom, white walls complement the light gray canopy bed with a comforter in white with gray flowers. You can copy this look with pieces you find in local stores and end up with a similar look.

Celebrity Taste Doesn’t Require a Celebrity Paycheck

While you likely don’t have millions of dollars at your disposal to buy an amazing, luxurious home, you can certainly still find budget-friendly furnishings and other touches inspired by your favorite celebrities. All it takes is a little wherewithal and creativity to feel inspired and set you on the path to luxury living.
