Did you know there are about 60 births per 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44?
Is someone you know having a baby? Are you throwing her a baby shower? There are so many baby shower theme ideas.
But let’s face it, some themes are past their expiration date while others are too over the top.
If you’re in charge of the next baby shower, check out these non-cheesy baby shower theme ideas.
1. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Is the mom-to-be chic and sophisticated? Is she named Tiffany? Try a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme. Even if her name isn’t Tiffany, this is a unique theme inspired by the film starring the glamorous Audrey Hepburn.
Use the film as your springboard and design a pretty breakfast setting.
Use a retro pram design on everything from the invitations to the party bags. Use bold black stripes and lots of faux pearls!
2. Circus Theme
Everyone loves a circus. This theme is great for a baby shower. Use bold red stripes for the tablecloths and bunting.
Serve popcorn in old-style red-striped cardboard boxes. Feature a cake with circus animals. Sprinkle cute plastic animals throughout the party room. Put bright candies in clear glass jars.
Set up retro soda bottles and feature an old-fashioned ring toss. Whoever gets the ring on the bottle takes home a bottle of soda!
3. Nautical Theme
Do the parents-to-be love sailing? Go with a blue-striped nautical theme. Design your own custom baby shower invitations that feature a lifesaving ring buoy.
Feature the Lifesaver game. Put a lifesaver on a string. Hand one to each guest when they come in.
Tell them not to say the word “baby” during the shower. If they hear someone else say the word, then they can take the person’s necklace. Whoever has the most necklaces at the end of the shower wins a prize.
4. Missing Piece of the Puzzle
Every baby is the missing piece to the growing family.
Cut extra-large jigsaw pieces out of cardboard. Paint them in bright, bold colors. Hang them over the buffet table.
Cut out another puzzle piece and reserve a spot in the middle for a photo of the baby after she’s born.
Make a cake and decorate it with fondant puzzle pieces. Use an old puzzle and string the pieces for garland decor.
5. The Fall Baby
Is the baby due in October or November? Try a fun pumpkin theme. Offer pumpkin-shaped cupcakes and cookies.
Serve popcorn and candy corn mix from mason jars wrapped in orange paper.
Use matching mason jars for utensils.
Crush up Oreos to make a dirt pumpkin patch. Put mini pumpkin donuts in the patch!
Buy mini pumpkins and other gourds for decorating. Use orange votive candles in jars on the table.
