Getting a great night’s sleep is challenging for millions of Americans and individuals from around the world. With hectic schedules, an increase in technology, and the inability to ever cease communication with the outside world can greatly impact your ability to sleep well each night. Implementing a few tips can drastically improve your ability to sleep through the night without feeling exhausted each morning you wake up.

Invest in a Better

Mattress One of the biggest issues individuals have when it comes to getting a great night’s sleep is an unsuitable mattress. Invest in a better mattress that is optimal for your body’s needs. Whether you prefer sleeping on a hard, soft, or adjustable surface, a new mattress can make all of the difference when it is time to sleep for the night.

Exercise Regularly

Get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day to release natural dopamine and endorphins throughout the body. Exercise not only helps to wear the body out (preparing it for rest), but it also boosts moods and provides assistance with focusing and remaining motivated.

Avoid Consuming Caffeine

Avoid consuming caffeine after a set time during the day to prevent feeling away throughout all hours of the night.

Create a Routine and Stick to It

Creating a daily routine and schedule is important to avoid interrupting a healthy sleep schedule. Stick to your sleep schedule even on weekends and your days off from work. Do Not Eat Before Bed Eating before bed can cause you to feel energized, preventing you from sleeping. Avoid eating at least a few hours before you attempt to rest.

Incorporate Healthy Foods Into Your Diet

Eating healthier can drastically improve your ability to sleep well each night. Minimize or eliminate processed foods from your diet while steering clear of overindulging in sweets and sugar, especially before your designated bedtime.

Take Natural Melatonin

Take natural melatonin each night to help your brain unwind and relax without serious potential side effects. Melatonin is an all-natural supplement that is appropriate for all ages and lifestyles.

Set a Proper Temperature in Your Home

Ensure your thermostat is set at a temperature that is comfortable enough to sleep (whether you prefer a more cool or warm temp).

Turn Off Tech Before Going to Bed

Always turn off your smartphone and other technological devices at least 30 minutes before your planned bedtime. Choose to read a book to avoid the temptation of keeping your smartphone on, inhibiting your brain’s ability to unwind.

Practice Relaxation Techniques

Practice standard breathing techniques to learn to relax your body on command. Spend at least 10 minutes a day meditating, even if you do so in bed while attempting to fall asleep.

Implementing a few tips to improve the amount of rest you are able to get each night is a way to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day’s challenges. With a few tweaks and changes to your current lifestyle, you can begin to enjoy the best sleep of your life.
