Standup paddle boarding, or SUP, is a new water sport that is becoming popular all over the world. Based on surfing and with its origins in Hawaii, SUP is now becoming popular throughout the US and the rest of the world. It is a great way to work out and have fun too! It’s not too difficult even for those who have never surfed before and it’s a great way to get out on the water. Here are six great reasons to start standup paddle boarding.

Reduce Stress

Water is a naturally soothing element and being surrounded by it can bring an element of calmness. Adding to this, doing exercise of any kind is a way to reduce stress and release those feel-good endorphins. SUP is a great way to lose yourself on the water, concentrating only on the here and now.

Increased Body Strength

Rather than heading to the gym and lifting weights, why not do something a little more fun? SUP uses most of your body as you balance and paddle on the water, increasing your overall body strength. You may be sore the first time you take to the water, but as you continue you will feel yourself getting stronger.

Increased Endurance
