When planning a first date, it can be easy to settle for something safe and standard, such as going to see a movie and having a meal. But, whilst there’s nothing wrong with doing that at all, it’s not always the most effective option when it comes to ensuring that your date is amongst the most memorable for both yourself and your partner. A good first date will allow some time for conversation between the two of you, but also includes something fun together to take the attention off you for a while and provide a pleasant distraction. We’ve put together some fun first date ideas that you might want to consider.
1. Bowling
For something fun, chilled out and casual, bowling is the perfect activity for a first date. Since it’s a low-stress environment, your date will have a relaxed vibe to it, helping to put you both at ease. This old-school date idea is not only heaps of fun, but with plenty of background noise and the distraction of a little friendly competition between the two of you, helps to take the pressure off and give you just the right amount of time to talk without feeling uncomfortable.
2. Outdoor Activities
If you are both the outdoorsy type, then there is a huge selection of activities that you could consider doing for your first date. From hiking to horseback riding or even sailing, there’s no limit when it comes to the things that you could do in the great outdoors for a memorable and fun first date idea, even if it’s just a picnic. However, don’t forget to check the weather forecast first – the last thing that you want is for your date to be trudging through the rain! It’s also best to give them a heads up about what you have planned beforehand, to avoid any potentially embarrassing outfit mix-ups.
3. Gigs and Shows
If you both enjoy music, comedy, or other types of live entertainment, then why not do this for a first date? Perhaps a band that you both enjoy listening to is coming to town soon, or you’ve seen advertisements for a comedy show that looks super-funny. The key is to choose a show that’s fitting for both of your tastes and preferences; that way, you’ll both enjoy it and be far more relaxed in each other’s presence. Most live shows have an intermission period, which you can use to chat and get to know one another over a drink and even some 708 Cigars if that’s your thing.
4. Explore Your Town
If you’re looking for a chilled out, low-key date idea where you can both get to know each other and explore at the same time, then why not check out what is on offer in your local home town? From new restaurants to museums or even tourist attractions that you’ve never visited, there’s sure to be something fun to do on your first date that’s close to home. Why not meet for a chilled-out breakfast or brunch and take it from there?
What would be a perfect first date for you? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.
