A TEDxWomen event is a TEDx event featuring the webcast of TEDWomen — a one-day event curated by TED and Pat Mitchell. This year, TEDWomen will take place on December 5th, 2013 in San Francisco.
TEDWomen 2013 will continue TED’s multi-year conversation about women’s work and lives, present and future. A powerful conversation was started at TEDWomen in 2010 and continued through the next two years as TEDxWomen in New York, LA and Washington, D.C. The spark: How are women and girls reshaping the future? From the developing world, where a small loan to a young woman can transform a village, to the West, where generations of educated women are transforming entire industries, women are change agents, inventors, idea champions.
The TEDx community has expanded on these ideas through hundreds of local TEDxWomen events, featuring the live stream as well as local speakers and entertainment.
TEDWomen 2013 will be live streamed to the global TEDx community, and we invite TEDx organizers around the world to host a TEDxWomen event.

Rules/Guidelines for TEDxWomen events
All of the standard TEDx rules apply, as well as the additional rules listed below:
License
A TEDxWomen event must occur on December 5th, 2013 — or within 24 hours — and must incorporate at least one session of the TEDWomen livestream into its program.
Naming
If you are a first-time TEDx licensee, the official name of your event is TEDx(LocationName)Women. The qualifier “Women” must be a part of your name. All web properties and collateral must mirror this name exactly.
Existing TEDx licensees have the option to use the “Women” qualifier, or their standard TEDx event name when organizing their TEDxWomen type event. ie: if you are an existing licensee your have the option of using TEDxAmsterdam or TEDxAmsterdamWomen.
Logo
The logo of your TEDx event should reflect whichever name applies to your event. Eg. “TEDxAmsterdam” or “TEDxAmsterdamWomen”. TEDxWomen type event logos follow the standard TEDx logo guidelines.
Website
Existing TEDx licensees should organize your TEDxWomen event on a page on your existing website, and use existing web properties to promote the event. For licenses where this is their only event, create dedicated web properties — Facebook, website, Twitter — that reflect the proper name of your event, eg “TEDxStPetersburgWomen”.
Promotion
In all communications to potential attendees and sponsors, make it clear that your event is a TEDxWomen event, and is independently organized around the live webcast of TEDWomen.
Positioning
We have created TEDxWomen banners that show your event is a TEDxWomen event and will be showing a livestream of TEDWomen, which you can add to your website or social media platforms.
Programming
TEDxWomen must show at least one session of the livestream of TEDWomen. This is a requirement of your license. TEDxWomen events can only be one day in length.
Depending on your time zone, you’ll have various ways to program your event around the live stream, as well as an option to program your own sessions before, during or after the program.
When working with time zone differences, be creative — if your time zone doesn’t align with the TEDWomen livestream, embrace the time difference by creating blocks of programming for segments when the live stream goes dark. Think of it as a way to accent, and build on, the experience. Consider these suggestions:
- Host a pre-program early session
- Host an afternoon session following the morning live-stream
- Build a program around the archived webcast from the previous day
- Host an all-night party
Admission
You can charge admission to TEDxWomen events, up to $100 USD. All ticket prices must be submitted to TED for approval.
Sponsorship
You may seek out sponsorship for your TEDx event, but the TEDx sponsorship rules still apply.
Closing out your event
After your TEDxWomen type event, besides completing the standard rules around closing out your event, you’ll need to do the following:
- Fill out the TEDxWomen Organizer feedback form
- Send the TEDxWomen Attendee Feedback form to your attendees.
- Upload photos to Flickr tagged “TEDxWomen” and “TEDx(LocationName)”.
- Include the tag “Women” in any videos that are uploaded to YouTube.
