Beverley Wybrow is retiring after 22 years as President and CEO of the Canadian Women’s Foundation.
Thanks to Bev’s extraordinary leadership, the Foundation has gone from granting $40,000 in 1991 to investing more than $7.5 million last year to help move women and girls out of violence, out of poverty and into confidence.
As CEO, Bev has grown the Foundation from a handful of bold donors to over 9,000 individual and corporate supporters. She has pioneered initiatives that have built the women’s sector and she has made a profound and lasting impact on the lives of women and girls across Canada.
Bev has guided the Canadian Women’s Foundation to an incredible point in our history with record setting fundraising levels, world-class programs and granting, and unprecedented heights of awareness and engagement. Thanks to Bev, we are ready for the next chapter in our work for women and girls.
It will be hard to say good-bye to someone we respect, admire and who has touched so many of our lives with her kindness. Bev will begin her retirement in mid January and over the next few weeks we will be letting you know of many different ways that you can honour Bev and join us in thanking her for her incredible contributions.
Today we are also proud to announce that Mina Mawani will be joining the Canadian Women’s Foundation as our new President and CEO in early January 2014. Mina is an accomplished leader who is passionate about women’s equality issues. She brings with her more than 15 years of experience and an impressive track record of visionary leadership in non-profit, hospital and government organizations.
“I care deeply about the issues facing women and girls in Canada and I feel truly honoured to have been appointed as the next President and CEO of the Canadian Women’s Foundation. I am excited to begin working with the Board, staff, volunteers, donors and grantees of this incredibly high calibre, passionate organization that is committed to investing in the strength of women and in the dreams of girls” ~ Mina Mawani
Mina was most recently the Chief Development Officer at CivicAction where she was a member of the Executive Committee responsible for overall strategy and operations.
Mina is best known for successfully leading transformation as CEO of the Aga Khan Council for Canada, where she realigned program planning and funding models to build organizational capacity and contributed to planning for a new Ismaili Centre and Museum in Toronto. Mina has also held key roles at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
A strong believer in giving back to community, Mina serves on several boards including Women’s College Hospital (current Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee) and the Advisory Board for the UN Women National Committee.
Mina is an exemplary leader to guide the next exciting chapter of our work to improve the lives of women and girls in Canada.
We know you will join us in warmly welcoming Mina to the Canadian Women’s Foundation community.
Sincerely,
Julie George and Patricia Rossi
