Through his Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative, the Right Honourable Paul Martin has championed business education and leadership skills for aboriginal youth.

An informal dialogue, moderated by Mr. John Tory, will take place following dinner.
Participants on the dialogue include Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee, The Right Honorable Paul Martin, former Prime Minister of Canada and The Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne.

The dialogue will go through a discussion on enhancing student success in First Nation communities in Ontario, the enhancement of First Nation opportunities in economic development through business relationships and partnering in resource development projects, as well as skills development and training opportunities for First Nation citizens and the resulting benefits for corporate Canada and the Ontario government.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS

Phil FontaineFormer National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations

Following the dialogue Former Assembly of First Nations National Chief Phil Fontaine will provide thoughts regarding building partnerships with business, government and First Nations. Mr. Fontaine will share success stories from previous endeavors and speak about opportunities currently being pursued and those that are in development. He will highlight best practices in contacting First Nations to begin discussions in developing positive relationships. He will also make specific reference to skilled trades people currently willing to work and those that are pursuing their certification.

David ZimmerOntario Minister of Aboriginal Affairs
The Honourable David Zimmer, Ontario Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, will also be in attendance as a special guest.

SUPPORTING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Proceeds from this gala event will go to the Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity. 50% of the proceeds will go towards Scholarships and Bursaries. 50% will go towards Promoting Healthy Lifestyles in First Nation communities.
As the official charitable fundraising arm of the Anishinabek Nation, the Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity (AN7GC) is committed to improving the quality of life of Anishinabek Nation citizens by providing support where no other funding exists.
Building a strong local workforce upon a foundation of business relationships and recognizing youth entrepreneurial leadership through fundraising for scholarships and bursaries. The Anishinabek Nation 7th Generation Charity provides wisdom, leadership and funding for initiatives where no other funding exists and promotes the building of partnerships for strong business relationships in our communities.
