‘When Sisters Speak’ – January 26th

It was never my intention to start this show, but a couple of years after starting my When Brothers Speak series, people kept on asking me when I would start the women’s version, so I did.
This year, the show marks its 13th year, and it is the largest, and longest running spoken word series of its kind, anywhere!
Each year, six women are selected to share their work in an uncensored forum, where no topic is off limits. If you ever want to know what Black women are dealing with, this is the show to be at!
This is a celebration of womanhood, and the stories that often go untold. If you have never been, prepare to laugh, cry, think, and be moved!
- Now, a lot of men always tell me that they aren’t going to attend, because it’s going to be a night of male bashing.
- Fellas, we need to get over ourselves and understand that women have more going on in their lives than us!
The show gets going at 8pm, on January 26th, and will be produced at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, at 27 Front Street East.
