WORLD CONGRESS OF RELIGIONS 2012

 

The Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions is co-sponsoring the World Congress of Religions 2012, an international, interfaith conference.

The World Congress of Religions 2012 (WCR) will be held from November 30-December 2 at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel in Washington DC. The conference will feature Keynote addresses by Reverend Martin Luther King III, former US Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, and Congresswoman-Elect Tulsi Gabbard.

The WCR will join together engaged leaders, scholars, activists and members from diverse religious and spiritual communities, local and global inter-religious movements, government, business, education, and NGOs. The WCR will use the interfaith search for shared values and mutual respect in addressing the critical issues of poverty, the empowerment of women, human rights and world peace. The event is inspired and informed by the message of the religious and social visionary, Swami Vivekananda, on the 150th anniversary of his birth.

Dirk Ficca, Dr. Ramesh Rao (American Hindu Foundation), Swami Atmajnanananda (Vedanta Center of Greater Washington), Rabbi Niles Goldstein (The New Shul), Mr. Ray Buchanan (Stop Hunger Now), Dr. Sakena Yacoobi (Afghan Institute of Learning), Ms. Dena Merriam (Global Peace Initiative of Women).

Dr. George Hunsinger (Princeton Theological Seminary), Dr. Paul Wee (Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University), Dr. Jeffery Long (Elizabethtown College), Dr. Bharat Gupt (University of Delhi).
