Sage Girl and iTwixie in partnership with UGG Australia proudly announce the launch of www.DayoftheGirlSummit.com, a virtual summit that brings girls and girl-serving organizations together to celebrate the first ever Day of the Girl on October 11, 2012.
The Summit is an accessible digital space where girls can celebrate the first ever Day of the Girl and commemorate the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 66/170, which designates October 11th as the International Day of the Girl Child.
The Day of the Girl brings urgent attention to girls’ lives by elevating their status in our local and global communities, and addressing key issues related to their empowerment and success.
To honor and celebrate girls around the world, www.DayoftheGirlSummit.com features girl-friendly activities related to the event’s theme “Celebrating Girls.”
Summit participants can take the Day of the Girl Challenge for a chance to win 1 of 100 pairs of UGG boots, visit the virtual Girls Hall of Fame, find a local Day of the Girl event, or make a Proclamation Pledge to join girls around the world who have pledged to petition their towns and cities to declare October 11th the Day of the Girl.
The Summit kicks off on October 1st with 11 Days of Action leading up to the Day of the Girl! Each night Summit members can join online discussion groups to talk about important issues facing girls worldwide and connect with one another as they prepare for this historic day.
