Each Year on 12 August, the United Nations celebrates the International Youth Day to engage people from all walks of life – the United Nations, governments, civil society organizations and private sector partners – and advance youth participation and development.
This year’s theme is “Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth”.
Leading up to 12 August, the UN is holding a series of six Google+ Hangouts on 8, 9 and 10th August on specific themes that will shape the UN’s work with youth over the next five years, namely: Employment; Entrepreneurship; Education, including on sexual and reproductive health; Political Inclusion; Citizenship; and Protection of human rights.

12 August 2011 marks International Youth Day and concludes the International Year of Youth. The theme for International Youth Day this year is “Change our World.” It aims to inspire youth initiatives at all levels with the idea that efforts at the local level can have a global impact. The day also focuses on new tools for communication.Celebrate International Youth Day by participating in the “Change Your World 2011 contest” on Facebook.
