Since World Pulse launched Voices of Our Future, our intensive online citizen journalism and empowerment training program, nearly two thousand grassroots women leaders have learned to harness the power of technology to broadcast their voices to the world. With your support, these brave women have become powerful community leaders, equal rights champions, parliamentary candidates, nonprofit founders, and international speakers. They have entered and changed the dialogue around issues as diverse as land rights, female genital mutilation, and international free speech. I will speak for change to my last breath.” World Pulse Correspondent: Beatrice Achieng, Uganda Beatrice successfully fought tribal law that would have evicted her extended family of 21 from their land, after losing their final male heir to HIV/AIDS. She has also secured a well-paying job that allows her to provide for 17 grandchildren, and was elected the community ambassador for her region of 700,000. “I envision women coming together across the planet to give each other the courage to forgive, to speak, to heal, and to build a new type of community.” World Pulse Correspondent: Martha Llano, Colombia Martha found inner peace and renewed strength after sharing her story of an armed sexual attack with the World Pulse community. She is a vocal champion for the Amazon and the people of the rainforest in Colombia, speaking out against the degradation of her native lands and the destruction caused by the drug war. “I believe we can harness technology to inspire and empower women worldwide, building their inner strength with skills that will last a lifetime.” World Pulse Correspondent: Sarvina Kang, Cambodia Sarvina taught herself to speak English using the World Pulse platform. In building a wide reaching community of friends, Sarvina found many willing tutors and mentors to encourage her journey and pursuit of education. Her connections have led to international speaking engagements, a fruitful promotion at her job, and the motivation to share her learnings with Cambodian girls.
