Recovery Stories: Auburn Students Help Their Community Commit to Fit

In Auburn, Washington, more than 30 percent of Auburn adults are obese, and the area is home to the highest levels of adult obesity in the Seattle-King County area. But Auburn High School students have embarked an effort to change that thanks to Recovery Act funding. The school’s campaign, titled COMMIT TO FIT, encourages healthy behaviors and rewards participants for smart choices. Learn more about Commit to Fit.

Update on expenditures

As of June 24, 2011

  • Total HHS Recovery Funds Obligated (through grants and contracts): $117.4 Billion
  • Total Gross Outlays (spent by recipients): $109.7 Billion
  • Cumulative Recovery Act Medicaid FMAP State draw downs total about $83.1 billion. They represent the outlaying of increased FMAP obligations made through Dec. 31, 2010, and do not reflect Recovery Act Medicaid FMAP obligations from Jan. 1, 2011, to June 30, 2011, which were extended by PL 111-226.
