Despite international commitments, HIV-positive women are largely missing from decision-making in response to HIV and AIDS. That’s the finding of a new report from the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the ATHENA Network. Korabi Boruah, Gender & HIV programme specialist for UNIFEM in South East Asia, talks to UN Radio’s May Yaacoub about the factors which contribute to women not having a voice in this important debate.

UNICEF is concerned about the plight of HIV affected youth in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. In a new report it finds that only 24 per cent of those who need anti-retroviral treatment receive it, and that stigma associated with HIV infection is rampant, especially when it comes to injecting drug users.
