April 24, 2014, Global Day of Action

International Labor Rights Forum has announced the observance of April 24, 2014, as a Global Day of Action to raise awareness about hazards in the Bangladesh garment industry and to help victims of the tragic Rana Plaza collapse. April 24 is the one-year anniversary of the collapse, which killed at least 1,138 individuals and injured countless others. Bangladesh: Manufacturing Horror‏!

The death toll from last week’s building collapse in Bangladesh has now topped 400 -- it’s Bangladesh’s worst ever industrial disaster. The eight-storey building, workplace to thousands of garment factory workers, showed clear signs of cracking a full day before it collapsed. International treaty on domestic workers’ rights   September 2012 – A United Nations treaty which provides a set of international standards to improve the lives of millions of domestic workers worldwide has now been ratified by a second Member State, the Philippines, allowing it to come into force next year, the world body announced today. UNFPA – celebrating $30 Million raised in Philippines for maternal health
