Crazy Things Kids Say About Old People

The subject of old age is no exception. As much as parents try to teach their kids to respect their elders and value those who have lived longer than them, children seem to cultivate unique views on the elderly and often have no qualms about sharing them. “Old people wear glasses and they can take their … [Read more...]

DESPAIR surrendered to FAITH – Madison Ellis

This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring rain. The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, 'OK, dad, I'm ready.' His Pastor dad asked, 'Ready … [Read more...]

Sister Sibling Rivalry: What does a Mother do?

Sister Rivalry       "What does a Mother do? "    This morning, my work is disturbed by three almost grown women, aged 16, 18 and 20. These quasi 'Women' had exploded into an all out brawl over 'bras and panties'. At the top of their lungs, these three gals are waking the neighbourhood, taking each other's inventory for the last ten years, and all the while I sit, hiding in the shadows, dodging the bullets that so easily could be instantly redirected at guess who? Yes, you got it! … [Read more...]

ADELE BUTLER – Women of Spirit: Grandma and Goliath

Grandma and Goliath         Grandmother Takes on Oil Giant ...   Recently I read what can only be called a modern day David and Goliath story. The two contenders are an Ecuadorean grandmother whose modest home sits near marshes that are clogged with sticky oil for decades and Chevron. Maria Aguinda helped to bring a landmark judgment against Chevron for polluting the rain forest which she calls home. She spoke out against the US oil giant after it was fined $9.5 billion, among the … [Read more...]

I was thrilled that my fiancé and her only grandchild were there for the momentous occasion. As I looked at her I couldn’t help but feel happy that she is still around. She and I used to live together until I … [Read more...]
