Forced Virginity Tests, can you imagine? – Take Action

WOMEN of our WORLD We still need more signatures - Take Action!   Forced Virginity Tests in Africa, India and Middle East ... isn't this IMMORAL in itself, as there is zero dignity or respect in the action. Can you imagine being forced to have virginity tests and then if it turns out that you are not a virgin, you would be charged with prostitution? Seems far fetched and downright ridiculous but this is the reality for Egyptian protesters. Amnesty International has … [Read more...]

ADELE BUTLER – Women of Spirit: China's Unwanted Girls

ADELE BUTLER - Women of Spirit       China's Unwanted Girls   Today marks the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day and this morning I heard on The Current that there has been some progress in women’s fight for equality but there is still much to be done. I just read the same thing on Yahoo News. "The last century has seen an unprecedented expansion of women's legal rights and entitlements," Bachelet said, pointing to virtually universal voting rights for women, major inroads for … [Read more...]

Adele Butler- Women of Spirit: God’s Justice

GOD'S JUSTICE   There are organizations like Equality Now, Women For Women International and V-Day to name a few, which are dedicated to protecting the rights of women all over the world. But long before these much needed organizations existed, there was already a human rights activist who walked the streets of Jerusalem, Galilee, Samaria, healing the broken hearted, setting at liberty those who are bruised and delivering them from terrible circumstances. He stood for equality of women … [Read more...]

ADELE BUTLER – Women of Spirit: Attack on Female Protesters

Attack on Female Protesters     I was shocked when I read about the attack on the female protesters in the Ivory Coast. Thousands of women were protesting because of President Laurent Gbagobo’s refusal to step down when tanks showed up and soldiers opened fire. These women were unarmed. They didn’t stand a chance against these tanks. Seven of the demonstrators were shot—six died on the spot while one died on the way to the hospital. Gbagobo has crossed the line and over “to a new level … [Read more...]

ADELE BUTLER ~ Women of Spirit – Answered Prayer

Answered Prayer       As a mother of a three and a half year old, I was deeply affected when I heard on the news that a three year old boy had been missing for three days. It was believed that boy had been abducted by Randall Hopley, 46, a convicted sex offender from the Sparwood area. Tears sprang to my eyes as I imagined this person having a child that was not much younger than my own child and I stopped what I was doing and prayed. I prayed and asked God to return … [Read more...]

It is a ritual which banishes girls and women during their menstruation. It is dangerous because it also isolates women during and after childbirth. These women are banished fro up to eleven days away from … [Read more...]

The War Against Womanhood 'Breast ironing' is not only a term, it is really a hot iron used thinking the breast will flatten ...Stones are heated on scorching flames and are massaged rigorously to limp a girl's firm nipples and flatten her breasts. Other common tools include bananas, coconut shells, spatulas and hammers heated over a blistering fire. Just recently I read about a practice in Cameroon which deeply disturbed me. In the privacy of their homes and behind closed doors, … [Read more...]

Amnesty International is calling for the Guatemalan Government to act to stop the killing of women.
