This is an event celebrating and commemorating the Queen of Awadh : Begum Hazrat Mahal, who was one of the primary leaders in India’s first war of Independence known variously as the Great Mutiny or the Indian Uprising or the REVOLT OF 1857 (1857-58).

As Advisor to Asia at A Celebration of Women™ Foundation Inc., I, Meetika Srivastva, am elated to communicate it to you that our foundation is proud to screen the first ever documentary movie made on BEGUM Hazrat Mahal at several schools/colleges in LUCKNOW city during 26th July, 2016 to 30th July, 2016. Followed by some keynote speakers session in certain colleges and an interactive session between the guests and the students in certain schools to add different flavor to every screening event. Event Managed by Make My Day(MMD) events, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
The documentary is a GOVERNMENT OF INDIA project. A film produced by FILMS DIVISION, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
Guest of honour shall be Begum Hazrat Mahal’s Great great grand daughter Manzilat Khan ji Manzilat Fatima — M.A. (English), LL.B Calcutta University.
Interestingly this year, India will celebrate its 70th Independence Day which coincides with the 160th anniversary year of the Revolt of 1857. So this event shall be a befitting tribute to the freedom fighters of Indian Independence struggle. BEGUM of Awadh, was a freedom fighter, a HEROINE of 1857-India’s First War of Independence and her story deserves to be told to the youth of today! SHE symbolizes courage, valour and empowerment.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Yogesh Praveen
Dr. Yogesh Praveen is an Indian author and expert on the history and culture of Avadh, specifically Lucknow. He has a Masters in Hindi and Sanskrit in addition to a doctorate in Literature from Meerut University. Known as living legend of Lucknow as well as Avadh, and its Culture, Literature & History.

Retd Principal Jai Hind College & Project Director at Giri Institute of Developmental Studies, Lucknow.Her Research Project of ICSSR as Project Director affiliated to Giri Institute of Developmental Studies, Lucknow. Title: ‘Participation and Position of Women in the Uprising of 1857-Redefinition of Social Status of Women: Then and Now’ is completed and is under publication. This makes her a perfect choice for a keynote speaker.
