Our journey to EPIC GREECE has three distinct phases, each one offering insights and deep teaching that can be applied to our own changing times and challenges.

THE THREE STAGES OF EPIC GREECE in one memorable trip

Stage One: Through Ancient Eyes

Beginning in Athens, the seat of democracy and influence during the Golden Age of Greece, you’ll learn the dramatic circumstances that gave birth to the revolutionary ideas that continue to impact our lives today. Like an evolutionary anthropologist, you’ll experience the full spectrum of spirituality, beliefs, struggles for power, the expansive possibilities of healing, the role of theater and arts, the clashes of philosophies and the rise and fall of political visions. Through Ancient Eyes, you’ll travel down the ever-changing landscape of the Peloponnese Peninsula to visit not just the relics of the past, but to evoke the very spirit of the ancient ones whose voices continue to whisper their wisdom to those who have ears to hear.

Stage Two: Awakening Odysseus

It is never enough to listen to the stories of others. To be truly meaningful, you have to personalize them and breathe your own life into the learning. For the second Stage of our EPIC GREECE journey, we leave the mainland to re-enact the Hero’s Journey of the great Odysseus. As he travels the islands, we join him on the waters, recreating our own unique hero and heroine’s journey. From his brilliance in creating the Trojan Horse, we too metaphorically travel to the Island of the Cicones where we meet one of the greatest downfalls of the Greek world. We travel onto the Island of the Lotus Eaters to challenge our perceptions of what is “real” and what is not. From there, to the Island of the Cyclopes where ingenuity confronts peril. We venture onward through ceremony and story to the many islands of Odysseus finally sailing in celebration to the beloved island of Ithaca, and the new sense of universal home that we are called to create in our modern world.

Stage Three: Ascending the Heights

Now that the travelers have learned from the past, and become voyagers into their own splendid unfolding, it is time to ask the great philosophical question, “so what”? How can the learning of this trip be applied to your own great journey and your aspirations in and for your world?

To answer that question, we travel to the great Sanctuary of Delphi, the same vertical, cloud wrapped mountain peak temples where kings and farmers brought their questions to the Pithia, the renowned Oracles at the Temple of Apollo. Here, through ceremonies, we venture back through time to listen to the ancient counsel and to our own deepest knowing.

The next stop is to Meteora, the valley of Byzantine Monasteries set atop limestone columns where we ask our questions of the gods. On these magnificent summits, it is impossible to have a small thought. After visiting the monasteries, we seek our own mountaintop, and ask our final questions of the gods with the certainty that the answers will come.

Our trip winds back down through the valleys of Greece to the beautiful Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion where we stand on the edge of the ocean and all possibility. There we share our experiences, intentions and consecration in memorable closing ceremonies.
