Enbridge is Taking Action with Stardale Women’s Group!

Enbridge is partnering with the Stardale Women’s Group to help build self esteem and empower urban Aboriginal girls by providing interactive learning and creative programming through the Honouring the Girls’ Stories program.

A North American leader in delivering energy, Enbridge operates, in Canada and the U.S., the world’s longest crude oil and liquids transportation system. The Company also has a growing involvement in the natural gas transmission and midstream businesses and expanding interests in green energy technologies. Enbridge’s common shares trade on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges under the symbol ENB.

Enbridge Gas Distribution is committed to the safe, reliable delivery of natural gas to homes and business, and helping customers get the best value for their energy dollar. As Canada’s largest natural gas distribution company, Enbridge Gas Distribution serves about 1.9 million customers in central and eastern Ontario.

The Stardale Women’s Group offers services to Aboriginal women, girls and women of poverty. The Center, located in Melfort, Saskatchewan, opened its doors for service in 1998.

“Stardale developed and implemented self-development programs using creative processes, such as dance and modeling, to educate the girls in matters of self esteem, building skill sets in cooperation, and learning how to perform in public setting. The proactive interventions empower the Aboriginal girls to overcome systematic barriers and internalization of lower standards of wellness, achievement, education, and employability by providing classroom educational opportunities as well as skills-training and strategies for healthy choice-making,” said Helen McPhaden, Executive Director of the Stardale Women’s Group.

“Our investment in the Honouring the Girls’ Stories program goes right to the heart of our commitment to building sustainable communities,” said Teresa Homik, Manager, Aboriginal Affairs, Enbridge. “By providing young girls the opportunity to participate in enrichment programming that keeps them interested in learning and making healthy life choices, we are inspiring a new generation of youth to affect positive change and improve upon the world they have built.”
