WEIGHT LOSS SUGGESTIONS THAT WORKS

Water:            We recommend drinking at least half your body weight in ounces daily.  Drinking water keeps you hydrated, aides in proper digestion and metabolic function, combats fatigue throughout the day, among many other benefits.

Exercise:      We recommend exercising 5-6 times a week for at least 45 minutes.  Exercise is beneficial to the body for a multitude of reasons.  Obviously it is wonderful to look great in your clothes or in a bathing suit.  Exercise also helps build lean muscle mass, and is vital to maintaining bone mass, and combating heart disease and other physiological problems.

Nutrition:      We recommend eating 9-13 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables daily.   Use Juice Plus+ Capsules as a tool to help you fill the nutritional gaps in your diet and JP+ Complete as a meal replacement drink for at least one meal a day.  Combine fresh fruits and vegetables with whole grains or lean proteins.  Fruit is best digested on its own.  And vegetables digest most efficiently with either grains or proteins alone.   Medical science reminds us every day that good nutrition and good health go hand in hand.

Eat Daily:

4-5 Fruits a day (in your Juice Plus+ capsules or chewables)

5-8 Vegetables a day (in your Juice Plus+ capsules or chewables)

1-2 protein sources a day (in your Juice Plus+ Protein Shakes)

3-6 oz. of whole grains a day (in your Juice Plus+ capsules or chewables)

1-2 milk sources a day

2-3 good fats (olive oil, avocado, flax)

 What is a serving?

  • One medium size fruit
  • ½  c. fresh or frozen fruit or vegetables
  • ¾ c. (6oz.) 100% fruit or vegetable juice
  • 1 c. raw leafy greens
  • ¼ c. dried fruit
  • ½ c. cooked, canned or frozen legumes
  • 3-4 oz. cooked lean meat, fish or poultry
  • 1 oz is a slice of whole grain bread, about a cup of breakfast cereal, or ½ c. cooked rice or pasta

Portion Control:

  • Fist = 1 cup or 1 medium whole fruit
  • Thumb (tip to base) 1 oz. of meat or cheese
  • Thumb tip (tip to 1st joint) = 1 tablespoon
  • Fingertip (tip to 1st joint) = 1 teaspoon
  • Cupped hand = 1-2 ounces of nuts or pretzels
  • Palm (minus fingers) = 3 ounces of cooked lean meat, fish or poultry

Plate method:

By dividing your plate into quarters you can fill ¼ with a grain based side dish, ¼ with a lean protein source, and the remaining half with vegetables and /or fruit.  (For best results combine vegetables with grains or proteins and eat fruit alone).

Tips:

Eat whole foods as much as possible, including fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins.

  • Eat Juice Plus+ Orchard and Garden blend every day to fill the nutritional gaps in your diet.  JP+ is the next best things to fruits and vegetables.  It is chalk full of live digestive and metabolic enzymes, vitamins and minerals to help the body function at optimal capacity over time.
  • Start your day with a Juice Plus+ Complete smoothie.  It has no dairy, no fast releasing or artificial sugar, and it is entirely from plant sources.  This is the perfect balance of protein and carbohydrates to give you a great nutritional start to your day.
  • Think of food as fuel, and give your body the good things it needs to operate at an optimal level.
  • Cookies, cakes, candies, chips, cokes and cocktails contain the simple sugars and carbs that keep us fat.  They contain empty calories and have no nutritive value.  Further, they are “energy zappers” and make us feel tired and lethargic.  Avoid these most of the time and you’re a step in the right direction!
  • To help you track your water intake, you can either portion out your water for the day in containers, or keep track with tally marks on a sheet of paper.
  • Get plenty of rest, giving your body the time it needs to cleanse and rejuvenate.  Getting run down only leads to susceptibility to seasonal illness and/or injuries.  We also crave simple carbs for temporary energy when we are over tired.
  • Plan ahead and be prepared.  Shop in the beginning of the week and prep your food right when you get home from the store.  This way quick snacks and meals are ready to go and at your fingertips.
  • Take your lunch to work.  Eating out often adds unwanted calories to your meal plan.
  • Eat a big green salad with a little lemon juice, oil and vinegar, or other light dressing before lunch and dinner.  The fiber will fill you up before you can over eat.
  • Make a pot of zero calorie vegetable soup with organic broth to snack on during the day.
  • Avoid packaged processed foods as much as possible.  Most contain ingredients such as preservatives, chemicals, high sugars, and bad fats that the body cannot identify as food.  These things invariably contribute to extra calories, blood sugar surges, toxicity to the body and even degenerative disease.  It is best to stick to as many fresh foods as possible each day.
  • Avoid things that say “sugar free”.  These products often contain some form of Aspartame which acts as a neurotoxin in the body.   Aspartame has been linked to such things as migraine headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and MS.  It is best to avoid sugar, but to eat less of the real thing if you are going to eat it.
  • Avoid things that say non-fat.  Most of these products replace the fats in foods with starches which are simple carbohydrates.  Again it is best to eat less of the “real” or whole things.
  • Don’t starve yourself.  Your body will start to hang on to fat if it is not getting enough to eat.
  • Find a buddy to work out with and compare notes.  Being accountable to a friend always makes it easier to stay on track.  Stop eating by 7p.m.

Suggested Ways to Eat Juice Plus+…

Please note that these are SUGGESTIONS.  This is not the only way to eat Juice Plus+.  Some of my clients felt it would be helpful to them if I gave them an itinerary of how my family incorporates each of the products into our day. I encourage you to find your own JP+ style, and please share with me what you’ve found to work for your family. There are many different ways to do this but here’s what has worked for us…If you are not taking all of the products below, simply follow the water regimen as well as the timing for the Juice Plus+ Orchard and Garden Blends.

Morning:       Wake up your metabolism!

1.    First thing in the morning (by my toothbrush)

a.    Big Glass of Water

b.    2 Juice Plus+ Thins

c.    2 Orchard Blend Capsules (red lid), 1 Vineyard Blend Capsule (purple lid)

2.    Coffee (If you drink Coffee, it is best to take it 20 minutes before or after you eat your JP+)

3.    Complete Shake (ask for recipe suggestions)

Afternoon:  15-90 Minutes before lunch

1.    2 Garden Blend Capsules* (green lid), 1 Vineyard Blend Capsule (purple lid).  Your capsules can be taken with lunch or dinner, or anytime in the afternoon.

2.    2 Thins before lunch or as snack in late morning

3.    Big Glass of Water

Late Afternoon Option:

1.    You may choose to take your Garden Blend Capsules* (green lid) sometime between  2pm and 4 pm. if your energy drops some time in the afternoon.  Combined with a big glass of water, you may find this to be the perfect “pick me up.”

2.    You can combine 10-12 oz of water with a scoop JP+ Complete for a great low-cal afternoon snack to maximize energy or sustain you until dinner.

Evening:

1.    2 Thins before dinner with Big Glass of water before dinner.

2.    2 Garden Blend Capsules if you have not taken them yet.

*  Garden Blend Capsules can be taken several different ways, just choose one that works for you.

You will probably notice a few products on this list that you may not be taking.  If you have questions about them, please don’t hesitate to call me.  We eat more Thins than are mentioned on this page, and so do our kids. Thins are a great late night snack, or cure for a sweet tooth.  We also eat the Complete shake at various times of the day, such as recovery from, or preparing for a work out, if our day gets too busy and we can’t get lunch, or after dinner if we can’t get past snacking.

Two Thins and a handful of unsalted raw or roasted almonds…

 are a GREAT complete snack!

Remember,

obtaining your optimum weight leads to a healthier, longer more fun life!

Good Luck!
